I love my web developers. Truly I do. But sometimes they drive me crazy. Developing marketing plans for my small business clients requires finding the balance between the precisely correct way to implement the plan and the "close to best" plan for speedier results.
Results...that's another crazy-making difference. Why are web developers all about clicks? There are other metrics that are important to measure. And sometimes tons of clicks aren't the best result especially if they're not properly qualified.
Why don't web developers like market research? Why are they all about keyword research? Doesn't anyone wonder about the decision making process anymore? Doesn't anyone stop to think about how a buyer might reach a decision? Even though the world has become more technologically advanced, buyers are still making choices based on the emotions that are driving them.
I'm tired of being classified as old-school and traditional. Best marketing practices require that you practice fundamental marketing tactics. Research, testing, launching. It's not old-school. It's a formula for success and modeled by thousands of companies. It's the only formula we practice at Words@Work. Maybe that's why we've been around for 17 years.
