The
Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ are again opening the doors of the
Merrill Auditorium to ghosts, goblins, witches and warlocks for a night
of hair-raising fun! This year's original silent film is the 1920s version of "Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", starring John Barrymore, and accompanied by
critically acclaimed theatre organist Scott Foppiano. Scott is the 2007
American Theatre Organ Society Organist of the Year. When asked about performing in this type of concert, Mr. Foppiano
answered, "accompanying silent films is almost a lost art form - very,
very few people in the world do it anymore.
That organ (the Kotzschmar) is without question one of a kind in its
sound, specification and physical layout in the building. It enables
one to play music from the softest, almost inaudible whisper to a
building-shaking roar of a fortissimo. It's literally a limitless tonal
palette and there is nothing one can't play on the Kotzschmar Organ."
Ch.
8's Shannon Moss will be your MC for the evening's festivities. The fun
