It's not every day that your uncle comes to you with a request for help. That's exactly what happened last June when my Uncle David asked me to help him with his campaign for NARFE National Secretary. If you are a federal employee, active or retired, you probably have heard of NARFE. It's the organization that monitors Congress' management of your retirement benefits.
My uncle has held this position in the past but much has changed in the technology sector since he left office. Words@Work outlined a recommendation for a web site and blog. To reduce his travel budget, we also included video clips that would allow him to introduce himself, talk about his expertise and outline his plan for moving ahead.
For face-to-face campaigning, we developed a campaign card (like a business card only different) for his wife to carry in her purse, a campaign brochure for him to carry in his jacket pocket and a series of ads for conference programs.
Initial feedback has been positive. The first test comes next week as he embarks on the campaign trail. For a better look, visit hyyp://www.davesullivanforNARFE.com
